Walking, I noticed how the water running back towards the sea looked a little similar to satellite pictures of the Delta of a river. I, therefore, walked around with my iPhone capturing the best compositions I could find, and these are my snaps of the compositions. It’s a great way to get your mind to relax and take pictures of what seems like nothing at all, really
Walking along the beach one day iI was a little deep in thought and then realised I felt like I was flying when looking down at the sands. The reason was that I had noticed patterns that looked like river deltas. The water running back towards the sea looked a little similar to satellite pictures of the Delta of a river. I, therefore, walked around with my iPhone capturing the best compositions I could find. I spent the next 10 minutes snapping away at simple patterns. This is not how I normally go about my photography but as a simple exercise is felt relaxing.
THE SANDS OF TIME
Not such a loaded post here, but essential nonetheless. How many times as a photographer do you feel I need to shoot pictures of something but not sure what? I was on the beach a while back and walked back and forth as I got to grips with the thought of going home. I struggled to think what would capture my gaze, but nothing was coming to mind.
It’s well known that I love being surrounded by nature and often notice how the very natural items we see happening produce the most complicated of patterns and processes. The seeds of a sunflower with its radiating designs in a spiral. The spiral of a shell or the grains of sand on a beach.

All pictures were shot on the iPhone 12 Pro and processed in the Lightroom Mobile App. The smartphone is becoming my go-to camera with me at all times. It’s amazing how easy it is to simply take out your smartphone, shoot and then edit the images all in one place. honestly, the Lightroom mobile app is stunning. I have listed all the apps I use for my processing below.
- Lightroom Mobile
- Ultralight
- Carbon
- Darkroom
- Afterlight
