Street Casting is the process whereby production houses or in this case me, go into an area or location where there is a requirement for a specific type of artist for a brief. You may and often do find people that embody the spirit, character required.

We used Starnow which is an online talent portal. I thought that this was quite an authentic way to cast for this particular personal project I wanted to run with. We had placed a call to action online and a week later we were not too sure as to who would turn up at the selected London studio ( I don’t have my own, far too much cost and responsibility! ) The idea was that people would appear on a rolling basis throughout the day and would each be allotted 3 minutes to give mme their best!
Before each person appeared in front of me and my camera (D850) my back team had taken their name and written them on a piece of paper for holding up in front of my camera so firstly I would know their name and secondly allow me to select the correct person for future work. Over 70 people came to the studio that day, which was a super turnout.
